Mickey Liddell’s Liddell Entertainment has acquired most rights to Chris Kentis and Laura Lau’s Sundance thriller “Silent House,” according to Deadline. To be clear, Liddell is not on as a distributor; he’ll work with “Silent House” reps at CAA to close distribution deals.
“Silent House,” which debuted Friday in a Park City At Midnight section screening, is a remake of the Uruguyan thriller directed by Gustavo Hernandez. Kentis and Lau previously directed “Open Water,” which premiered in 2004 in Sundance’s midnight section.
The film stars Sundance hot property Elizabeth Olsen, who also stars in Fox Searchlight’s just-acquired “Martha Marcy May Marlene.” In “Silent House,” a family tries to prepare their house for sale and hears strange noises; then, the fun begins.
