Seriously, Clint Eastwood to Direct A Star is Born Remake?

I know that he is a musician and composer, but pleeeze, how can it be a good idea for Clint Eastwood to direct Beyonce in the remake of A Star is Born.

This would be the fourth incarnation of the film and the best is still the Judy Garland/James Mason version. That is one of my favorite films EVER. Now I am ok with Beyonce in the lead, she’s as big of a star as Barbra Streisand was when she remade the film, but Clint Eastwood? I just don’t know.

How about giving Susan Stroman another chance at a musical? She had one film flop (The Producers) but has been a force to be reckoned with in the theatre for years. Guys get second and third chances all the time. I think this film needs someone who has directed a musical before. But I have to give it to Clint that he got a great performance out of Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby.

I dunno, The Producers was pretty god-awful, such a monstrosity that I became baffled that the original play was somehow a Tony-winning classic. Not saying she should be blacklisted forever (you’re right, male directors always seem to have a project lined up no matter what), but it’s almost akin to saying that Joel Schumacher should get one more try at a Batman film (and that’s from someone who LIKES Batman Forever and has long-since forgiven him for Batman & Robin). Personally, I wish more directors were allowed to step out of their safe zones. I would love to see Amy Hecklering direct an action picture, and I’d love to see Tim Burton do a romantic comedy set on the planet Earth.
