Kimberly Peirce Gets a Studio Directing Gig

Interesting News – director Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry, Stop-Loss) just got a gig directing The Knife for Universal and Imagine. The reason why this is interesting is because so few women get studio directing gigs, and because Peirce continues on the path ala Kathryn Bigelow of directing films outside of typical female centric fare.

According to Deadline the film tells the “true story of a South Central gang member who became a paid FBI informant. His covert collaboration with a hard-nosed agent led to a volume of busts ranging from crack and automatic weapons dealing to murder.”

The budget will be under $30 million.

So, so happy for her. I worked for her on BOYS DON’T CRY and she was quite the bad-ass. And I love the way she talks about story, such a smart and talented woman.

Sounds like an awesome storyline and im glad they trust that a WOMAN could direct something like that.

Great news! I’ll be first in line at the theater.
