We Just Crapped Our Pants: Ryan Gosling & Nicolas Winding Refn Team For 'Logan's Run'

Ahhh! This is what Ryan Gosling was alluding to. Let’s face it, we didn’t give a shit about the “Logan’s Run” remake throughout its long development history that saw a number of directors — notably Bryan Singer and more recently Carl Erik Rinsch (who is moving on to do “47 Ronin“) — circle the director’s chair. But congratu-fucking-lations Warner Bros., you made us sit up and take notice.

Deadline reports that the WB is sealing the deal that will find “Drive” duo Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn take on the sci-fi reboot. Yep, our tickets are bought — twice over. Gosling will take on the role of Logan 5, a “Sandman” who is tasked with with chasing down those who try to run from their state sanctioned death at the age of 30, the maximum allowed by the futuristic society. But when his own date of termination arrives, well, he goes on the run.

The film will still utilize the script written by Alex Garland (“28 Days Later,” “Sunshine“), which has apparently made the suits at Warner Bros. very happy. So, Nicolas Winding Refn getting money to play in the studio sandbox? Fuck. Yes. We can’t wait to see what the visually ambitious director dreams up for this reboot and with Gosling along for the ride into his first tentpole movie, this will certainly be hugely exciting.

Young Hercules has gone back to making junk. Guess he’s got to eat.

Upon reading reviews of Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games Trilogy, I realized it’s pretty much a female Logan’s Run…but I would rather see this & I’m so looking forward to it!

this could be very cool, agreed. Alex Garland has written some great screenplays in the past. I think Sunshine, as far as the screenplay goes, was vastly underrated. I still hope one day someone will make his novella, Coma, into a short film. It could have a very Memento-esque feel. Ryan Gosling makes some of the most interesting choices in Hollywood these days, as far as an actor with cache goes, so here’s hoping this comes off as well as you’re hoping. And, also, let’s all consider ourselves lucky that Keanu Reeves didn’t jump in (yet) and take the role.

Hopefully the studio won’t curb his crazy visuals, but damn is this exciting!

I guess you all don’t need to actually see “Drive” before deciding that it’s an amazing movie?

Can’t wait to see what Winding Refn can do with scripts and plots that aren’t either ridiculous minimalist or total messes. Drive alone was enough to have high hopes; Logan’s Run just sent high hopes flying into the atmosphere. This is awesome.

Huge news… I wish Gosling was still in Wettest county, but after Drive and now doing another with Refn, sign me the F up!

My pants runneth over. That’s awesome news!

I can’t wait.

Ryan Gosling has been doing dirt recently,
