Check out Shia LaBeouf on the set of prohibition gangster thriller The Wettest County in the World (hat tip: /Film). The film, based on Matt Bondurant’s novel and directed by John Hillcoat (The Road), is currently filming in Georgia. Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Guy Pearce and Jessica Chastain co-star.
UPDATE: Check out Matt Damon on the set of We Bought a Zoo below:
In We Bought a Zoo, from writer-director Cameron Crowe, Damon co-stars with Scarlett Johansson and Elle Fanning. The film is an adaptation of Benjamin Mee’s 2009 memoir.
– Jake Gyllenhaal, meanwhile, prepares for the release of Source Code. Check out our interview with him and director Duncan Jones, where he talks about how he wanted Jones to direct after seeing Moon, and also sees directing in his own future. He told ContactMusic: “I do have a number of things that I’m developing. That’s probably where the future lies for me – but I’m not going to give up the day job just yet. I’d like to see where it goes.” While Gyllenhaal’s latest releases Love and Other Drugs and The Prince of Persia signal career confusion as well as box office disappointment, brainy sci-fi thriller Source Code could turn things around. It’s not surprising that he’s “always wondering how long this will last. It’s a piece of being an actor. There’s always someone more talented or younger than you. But I also like to write…I won’t just be scrapping for the next job. Maybe I’ll create something for myself.”
– Superman: Man of Steel already boasts a promising core ensemble: Henry Cavill plays the superhero with Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as his parents. Viggo Mortensen, however, will not be joining them. But Carlos star Edgar Ramirez just might. LatinoReview says he is being eyed to play a villain in the reboot, but the production is keeping details close. Ramirez broke through with critics with his knockout five hour series Carlos, but isn’t new. He played a villain in The Bourne Ultimatum and Keira Knightley’s lover and partner in crime (see below) in Domino, among other things. He’s also lined up the role of Ares in the Warner Bros. sequel Wrath of the Titans.
