First Look: Geoffrey Fletcher's Teenage Assassin Flick 'Violet & Daisy'

Update: Images removed by request.

Here’s a somewhat official first look at Alexis Bledel, Saoirse Ronan and James Gandolfini in “Precious” scribe Geoffrey Fletcher‘s directorial debut, the teenage assassin tale “Violet & Daisy.”

The images come courtesy of cinematographer Vanja Cernjul‘s reel (after the jump) and certainly exhibits something at least a bit more upbeat and vibrant than the drag that was “Precious.” We’re not sure what to expect at all with this but, so far, the black comedy has been described asThelma and Louise” meets “Superbad” and “Pulp Fiction” with “plenty of action and lots of girl power.”

The story finds Ronan and Bledel (who are shockingly 13 years apart) playing a pair of teenage assassins who are lured into what is supposed to be just another quick and easy job, only to find complications as the man they’re supposed to kill (presumably Gandolfini) is not what they expected. Also co-starring is “Machete” himself Danny Trejo and Marianne Jean-Baptiste, who’ll play a “worldly shape-shifting assassin,” whatever that means. We’re definitely intrigued.

Shot last fall, the film should be near completion but kinda has TIFF or NYFF written all over it, right? Footage from “Violet & Daisy” can be seen below at the beginning and 1:57 briefly with a longer shot at 2:16. [ShadowAndAct]

Bledel & Ronan in a film together, it couldn’t get any better. I’m looking forward to watching this film.

I wish Saoirse Ronan would make just 4 films a year. I can’t get enough of her. Exceptional talent!!

As a huge Saoirse fan, I can’t wait for both this movie and Hanna

I agree with Brooke Saoirse looks like the older one, lol

Brooke M

Lol, Saoirse looks the older of the two. Can’t beileve how much she’s aged sisnce The Lovely Bones

The music is “Slip Into Something More Comfortable” by Kinobe:

There’s an HD version up on youtube:

Looks good. Can’t believe that’s the girl playing HANNA.

Does anyone know the name of that brilliant song?

That’s Jason Schwartzman in “Bored to Death” on HBO

The guy is an awesome DP. Obviously these clips are from about 4 or 5 different projects. Wonder what the shots of Alan Alda, Mathew Broderick and Jason Schwartzmann are from. Anybody know?
