Greta Gerwig fans rejoice. She’s starring in Whit Stillman’s Violet Wister’s DAMSELS IN DISTRESS, which will be released worldwide by Sony Pictures Classics. A release date is yet to be set.
The comedy stars Gerwig (Greenberg, Arthur), Adam Brody, Analeigh Tipton, Megalyn Echikunwoke and Carrie MacLemore. A trio of girls, led by Gerwig, set off to “revolutionize life at a grungy East Coast university” by fighting depression amidst romantic entanglement with a slew of university boys.
Gerwig impressed critics at SXSW with her film, The Dish & The Spoon (interview here).
SPC states: “We’ve long admired Whit’s films and Violet Wister’s DAMSELS IN DISTRESS marries his unique sensibility with the kind of acerbic comedy audiences love.”
