To celebrate the 40th anniversary of New Directors/New Films series, the Film Society of Lincoln Center and The Museum of Modern Art have curated a series of video interviews with talent who came to the festival as relative unknowns and went on to become renowned auteurs. indieWIRE will unveil a video a week up to the kickoff on March 23.

First up is a conversation with celebrated American documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, who came to the festival back in 1981 with “Brooklyn Bridge;” it went on to garner a nomination for Best Documentary at the Academy Awards the following year. Burns reflects upon the experience of premiering his film at ND/NF and how it served as a springboard for his career.
