First Close Up Look At A Dinosaur From Terrence Malick's 'The Tree Of Life'

While we’re as excited as anybody for Terrence Malick‘s “The Tree Of Life,” even we’re experiencing a bit of fatigue at this point in the run-up to the film. Fox Searchlight has done a great job getting the word about the film — which will be hard sell to mainstream audiences — out there, but for the past couple of weeks we’ve been trying to take a breather. But damn it all, if we’re not back to obsessing again.

Via the Tumblr site Two Ways Through Life, which has been dropping new stills from the film on an almost daily basis, we now have our first look at a long rumored dinosaur in the film (which appeared, in a much smaller form, in the second poster for the movie). What does it all mean? Hell if we know but we’re definitely excited to see how Terrence Malick weaves together a father/son tale into the grander mosaic of life in this universe.

As you already know, “The Tree Of Life” premieres at the Cannes Film Festival in a few short weeks and will open in limited release on May 27th. Full picture below or in hi-res at the aforementioned site.

Some Dinosaur

Looks like a very 70’s paleoart-ish Ornithomimus (ie, the Gallimimus in “Jurassic Park”). And is that some other animal in the foreground? Maybe a crocodile-ish thing?

This is the same Terrance Malik who went out of his way to make sure there were Carolina Parakeets in “The New World”, so I’m a little surprised at his outdated-looking dinosaur here. Then again, it’s one image, so…?
