Watch First Trailer For Global Documentary Experiment "Life In A Day"

Here’s the trailer for a project that was announced back in July last year, 2010, and that we’ve been covering since; It’s called Life In A Day, produced by Sir Ridley Scott, and directed Kevin Macdonald in what they called a historic global experiment to create the world’s largest user-generated feature film: a documentary, shot in a single day, by YOU.

On July 24, 2010, regular folks all over the world were given 24 hours to capture a glimpse of a day in their lives, on camera. The most compelling and distinctive footage was then selected and edited into an experimental documentary film, executive produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin Macdonald.

Of the more than 80,000 clips submitted, 1,125 made it into the final film. Maybe YOURS was one of them?

The finished film had its world premiere screening at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, and was then made available for viewing on YouTube, but for a very limited time. It’s no longer there. And that’s because a theatrical release of the film is planned for July of this year, courtesy of National Geographic Entertainment.

And in anticipation of that, an official trailer has been released, which you can watch below; and underneath that you’ll find a the recorded 45-minute Q&A session that followed the film’s Sundance debut, which included the director, and 25 contributors to the film:

I was able to see the live stream from Sundance back in January. It was an amazing experience watching it. Transcendent – and I rarely use that word to describe a film. I can’t wait for the theatrical release.
