Watch Now - Zoe Kravitz in X-Men: First Class

In a recent interview with MTV, Zoe Kravitz describes her audition for the role of Angel Salvadore in the forthcoming X-Men: First Class. She also discusses how they brought her character’s insect-like ability to life, and the scene from the film’s trailer that introduced her live-action role to fans.

See the trailer below.

Says Kravitz, “I was actually one of the last people cast. It happened really quickly. They were being really secretive about the script and the characters that were going to be in the film, so I didn’t even know who I was auditioning for. I didn’t think I had a shot. I didn’t even take it seriously. It wasn’t with [director] Matthew [Vaughn]. It was with the casting director in New York. I got the call at the last minute and I’d gone out the night before and I was hungover and tired and not the prepared person that I usually am. I was wearing a big hat and totally not being a sexy “X-Men” character. I went in and had a good time with it. They called back and said, “Matthew really responded to your tape, but can you come back and maybe wear something a little more sexy?” I didn’t know until later the character was a go-go dancer. I went back in and in the next two weeks, I was on plane to London.”

X-Men: First Class opens in theaters June 3, 2011.

Wow, could they have shown any LESS of Zoe’s character (or that young brother from Twilight/Atlas Shrugged)? This trailer…

Good luck Zoe. I like her. She can act and has potential to play beyond non-mutant/go-go dancer roles. This is a good look for more mainstream/blockbuster type stuff though.

I agree w/ Lorrie. It seems like she went through the regular casting process “Matthew really responded to your tape”. So I assume that is totally true.

If she couldn’t act I don’t care who kid she is, she wouldn’t be getting any parts, and as for nepotism, there are other bigger movie stars out there who kids are also out there acting too. is that nepotism because they are getting parts just like Zoe.

Lynn

I have one word to descirbe Zoe that is “nepotism” can she really act? If it weren’t for her parents would we even be discussing her?
