What becomes a legend most?
New production company Red Granite paid a handsome sum–some estimates were as high as $1 million–to put its name on the map and be the hot topic in Cannes. Twitter feeds lit up late Saturday night as Red Granite’s Carlton Beach party entertainment took the stage: Kanye West, later joined by Jamie Foxx for a rousing rendition of “Gold Digger.” Folks on the Croisette who didn’t have tickets could see the fireworks.
West gave a stellar, sweaty, ear-splitting performance, striding across the stage in a low-slung white suit with v-neck white shirt and sneakers. He performed for about an hour and a half, from after midnight til after 1:30 AM. As the crowd–which included champagne-guzzling Leo DiCaprio, whose film adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s memoir The Wolf of Wall Street, scripted by Terence Winter, is now backed by Red Granite, as well as Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt’s Friends with Kids.
