Elgin James' "Little Birds" to Receive Theatrical Release by Millennium Entertainment

Elgin James’ “Little Birds” will receive North American distribution through Millennium Entertainment, with plans for a theatrical release this fall.

The drama premiered in competition at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and stars Juno Temple, Kay Panabaker, with Kate Bosworth and Leslie Mann. WestEnd Films is handling international sales in Cannes.

Logline per the release: “‘Little Birds’ follows 15-year-old Lily and her best friend Alison on the shores of the Salton Sea… When the girls meet three street kids, Lily convinces Alison to follow the boys to LA.  They fall into the boys’ world of scams and petty crime.  When an idea is hatched to use Lily as “bait,” she must decide how far she will go to grow up and Alison must decide how far she will go to protect Lily.”

A former gang leader, James is currently serving a one-year term for the 2006 attempted extortion of a Chicago-area musician.

Millennium, formed in 2010, is headed by CEO Bill Lee and released its first film last month with “Trust,” directed by David Schwimmer.
