First Look: Brad Pitt As Jackie Cogan In Andrew Dominik's 'Cogan's Trade'

With principal photography now wrapped on Andrew Dominik‘s adaptation of George V. Higgins‘ “Cogan’s Trade,” a new image of star Brad Pitt as the titular Jackie Cogan has been unveiled.

It’s a look we’re already familiar with from poor paparazzi snaps and we’re not sure if it’s an “official still,” so to speak, as it’s simply described as Pitt “pictured on set” but, either way, here’s the actor as the professional enforcer hired to investigate the robbery of a mob-protected poker game perpetrated by two junkies played by Scoot McNairy (“Monsters“) and Ben Mendelsohn (“Animal Kingdom“). Also co-starring are Ray Liotta as the hustler running the game, Richard Jenkins as a lawyer with inside info, James Gandolfini as a washed-up alcoholic hit man, Vincent Curatola as a middle-aged ex-con seeking revenge, plus Bella Heathcote and Sam Shepherd in unknown roles.

The Weinstein Company has already scored domestic distribution rights for Dominik’s follow up to “The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford” and are reportedly eyeing an early 2012 theatrical release forwhat will certainly feature highly in our Most Anticipated Films of 2012. Word of warning though: this will probably be something more along the lines of Dominik’s stellar debut, criminal biopic “Chopper,” i.e. a mix of twisted dark comedy, drama and gruesome violence — which provided the breakout role for Eric Bana — rather than ‘Jesse James’ lyrical and Malick-ian atmosphere. Think about this with common sense. Sandra is an adult well into her 40’s. In other interviews she has said that she had amazing sex with this guy. So obviously it’s the sex that sold her and probably into the bad boy types. She’s not as sweet or innocent as is painted

Thanks for the tip, Raj. I just wrote to him. If he’s interested, I’ll definitely send you a copy as a referral fee.

Is the script as awesome as I know it will be?

You should hit up Jeff Wells at Hollywood Elsewhere. I know he has HEAPS of scripts but don’t think he has this. He has been a willing trader in the past.

Now, as a referral fee… he he he

Early 2012 release date? That doesn’t sound promising :(

I have the script, is anyone willing to trade for it?

Dominik’s two films to date have both been utterly brilliant. Very excited for this.

I don’t know what to be most excited for: This, “Drive”, or “The Wettest County.”

I definetely get a Tyler Durden Fight Club vibe from that pic of Brad Pitt.

Had this been a first look at anything else, I could care less. But since it’s a Dominik film, I’m working on my delorean because I can’t handle the wait.
