Gloria Reuben One Of Several Actors Offered Roles In Steven Spielberg's Abraham Lincoln Film

Casting for Steven Spielberg’s Abraham Lincoln film continues to fill out, with the most recent announcement including Gloria Reuben as one of a handful of actors offered roles in the project, although, at least in her case, what part exactly she’ll play hasn’t been revealed.

The multi-Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG award nominee (she’s won 4 SAG awards), was last seen on screen in 2008, in an indie comedy/drama titled The Understudy.

According to the press release, other actors said to be in negotiations to co-star in the Spielberg project, which already will star Daniel Day Lewis as the title character, and Sally Field, include Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, and several others.

Principal photography is scheduled to start this fall, with a fall 2012 release planned.

She’s going to play a slave, of course. Lawdy, I’m so tired of the same ol’ stuff. Please, can we have other movies where we are NOT the slaves???

Brooke C.

My guess is that she will play Elizabeth Keckley, Mary Todd Lincoln’s personal servant, however Lizzie was far more prominent in the aftermath of Lincoln’s death to Mary Todd.
