The Bible To Be Adapted Into 5-Part, 10-Hour TV Series Combining Live-Action & CGI

The trades are reporting that the History Channel has greenlit a 5-part, 10-hour docudrama series based on the bible, from Mark Burnett, the executive producer of Survivor.

Titled simply, The Bible, the series will focus on some of the most universally familiar tales from the bible; which ones? We don’t know yet; though I’m sure we can bet that the crucifixion of Jesus Christ will be at the top of that list.

The 10-hour project, which Burnett is said to have been working on for the last two years, will reportedly shoot on location, and will include a combo of live action and CGI (well, naturally).

This series will bring the historical stories of The Bible to life for a new generation,” said History Channel president Nancy Dubuc.

Worth noting… over the weekend, I read that Warner Bros was courting Darren Aronofsky to helm a big screen movie about Moses; then I heard that Aronofsky is reportedly, personally interested in making a film about Noah.

Since there apparently seems to be some renewed interest in biblical tales, what stories from the great book would you like to see included in Burnett’s 10-hour miniseries?

@T’challa & Afrostyling that’s what got me interested in reading the post was knowing that they will never show the accuracy of the bible so what’s the point! They are hellbent on showing white supremacy is still alive on the planet despite a black u.s. president. I’m sorry but I’ll pass. If its accurate I’m there!

the scandal is that these fairytales are on something called “the history channel,” when it’s far better suited to syfy or disney. the tipoff, the need for CGI.
if they stuck to the actual historical events in the bible, they could cover them in a two hours max. the rest of the time they could spend talking about how all the rest of that nonsense and hokum has fucked shit up for 2 thousand years.

There’s no way they will make ANY of the Biblical characters black. There would be rioting in the streets!

All that historical accuracy would make all their heads explode!

@t’challa, i was just about to ask if this was going to be about another white jesus. If yes, then i will skip it.

Eh.. it seems like it will be more “White Jesus” stories again.. I’m not expecting him to be cast as Black, but it’s extremely unlikely he looked Michaelangelo’s depiction.

Best we can hope for is maybe a Queen of Sheba/King Solomon story. But knowing Hollywood, they’ll cast Angelina Jolie as Makeda!

I would like to see the story of Job, David and Goliath, David and Bathsheba, and the story of Esther. Actually I recall “One Night with the King” was about Esther but I’d like to see it remade.
