Following its highly successful 54th SFIFF, the San Francisco Film Society has appointed Max Boyer Glynn, Janet McKinley and Marc Ruxin to its board of directors. Board President Pat McBaine commented: “These new members of our able and growing team bring experience along with fresh perspective and ideas to a vital and dynamic cultural organization. Sharing, as they do with all of us at SFFS, a passion for film and filmmakers, they will play an important role in our expanding efforts to bring visionary film programming and educational courses to Bay Area audiences and students as well as invaluable financial and professional services to filmmakers nationwide.”

The San Francisco Film Society announces the appointment of Max Boyer Glynn, Janet McKinley and Marc Ruxin to its board of directors as it continues to expand its slate of exhibition, education and filmmaker services and, following a highly successful 54th San Francisco International Film Festival, begins preparations for a robust Fall Season including Hong Kong Movies, Taiwan Film Days, the NY/SF International Children’s Film Festival, French Cinema Now, Cinema by the Bay, the San Francisco International Animation Festival and New Italian Cinema.
The new board members bring a wealth of experience from their professional work in support of the Film Society’s mission to embrace the artistry and innovation of the world’s most imaginative storytellers; to educate, entertain and enrich a wide and diverse range of audiences; and to foster creativity and further the careers of independent filmmakers.

Max Boyer Glynn worked with Academy Award-winning writer and producer Akiva Goldsman at Weed Road Pictures at Warner Bros. in Los Angeles. Prior to that, she worked at Industry Entertainment in management and film production, managing the careers of film and television actors including Jeff Goldblum and Ted Danson. Glynn also worked closely with In Effect Films in the making of two-time Emmy-winning documentary Autism: The Musical. She started her career in Los Angeles working for Richard Gladstein at Film Colony on Finding Neverland, starring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. Glynn is on the board of directors of the Foundation of City College and the Museo Italo Americano. She was born and raised in San Francisco and is a graduate of Vassar College.
Janet McKinley began her professional career in retail buying and currently owns Janet McKinley Interiors. Passionate about education, she has endowed and actively manages several undergraduate learning and development grants. In addition, she has served on the boards of Saint Luke’s Hospital, San Francisco Day School and San Francisco University High School and is a current member of the California Academy of Sciences board.
Marc Ruxin leads Universal McCann’s global innovation practice across businesses and disciplines. Before joining UM, Ruxin was chief operating officer of the Mill Group, a leader in commercial visual effects, and Beam.tv, a leading advertising digital asset management system. Prior to that, he was executive vice president of strategy at Gyro International, vice president of business development at iVast and vice president of business development and marketing at Eveo. He also worked for WPP Group, where he was an MBA marketing fellow and ultimately led West Coast new-media strategy for the company. Ruxin sits on the boards and advisory boards of numerous Internet and technology start-ups in Silicon Valley. He has a BA from Hamilton College and an MBA from Columbia Business School and lives in San Francisco with his wife and three children.
