The Telluride Film Festival issues its last call for 2011 submissions. The deadlines to submit to this class-act four-day festival over Labor Day weekend (September 2-5) are:

SHORTS AND STUDENT FILMS DEADLINE: FRIDAY, JULY 1, 2011 FEATURES DEADLINE: FRIDAY, JULY 15, 2011

Many award-season contenders premiere at Telluride, from last year’s Oscar-winner The King’s Speech (Colin Firth pictured in his Oscar-winning role) to Slumdog Millionaire, Brokeback Mountain and Juno. The likes of Billy Bob Thornton and Doug Liman were first discovered at Telluride.

Films chosen to screen at Telluride are kept secret until the fest’s opening day and screened out of competition. Here’s more.
