Aborigine Actor David Ngoombujarra Dies At 44 (RIP)

Award-winning Aborigine actor David Ngoombujarra (born David Bernard Starr), one of Australia’s best-known indigenous actors, who starred in titles like Australia, Rabbit-Proof Fence, Crocodile Dundee, Ned Kelly and other primarily Australian films, died on Sunday.

He was just 44-years-old.

The actor, who was reportedly found in a park, died at a hospital in Fremantle, on Australia’s west coast. Cause of death is still unknown.

Hugh Jackman, who’s worked with Ngoombujarra, had this to say upon hearing of his death: “So saddened to hear about the passing of David Ngoombujarra Starr. An extraordinary man, actor and friend. His laugh, warmth and humanity will live on with all who knew him.

If you aren’t already, now might be a good time to get familiar with the man’s work.

Very sad news. So young.

Such a tragedy to have his life end so early. His work in film will be appreciated for years to come, and his charasmatic roles remembered fondly. Rest well David.

My condolences to his family and friends. I remember watching Rabbit Proof Fence…what a phenomenal movie. So sad. Didn’t know he was in Ned Kelly. I’ll have to watch that film again.
