One of my favorite movies of the year finally drops this Friday and I urge you to seek it out if it’s playing somewhere near you. The flick’s called “Another Earth.” You might have heard of it.

I caught it at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, a few days after it had its world premiere at the event. All I knew going in was that it was a science-fiction romance, done mumblecore style and that its star, Brit Marling, was touted as the breakout of the festival.

The hype was warranted. Marling was darling in her big screen debut and the film itself, which she co-wrote, emerged as my favorite film at the festival. Why? It’s daring, though provoking, undeniably moving, sublimely beautiful, and bodes of great things to come not only from Marling, but also from the film’s first-time director Mike Cahill.

I since went gonzo in trying to get the word out about his debut by profiling Marling and Cahill for indieWIRE. Go here to check out my review of the film for MTV’s NextMovie.

This past week I attended the drama’s New York City premiere which culminated with an after party atop the Standard in their infamous Boom Boom Room, a world away from Utah. Marling and Cahill have officially arrived.
