Yes, Sacha Baron Cohen is back and after “Borat” and “Bruno” the comedian is bring a double dose of new characters to the big screen with “The Dictator.” Co-starring Ben Kingsley, Jason Mantzoukas, Anna Faris and J.B. Smoove with cameos from Megan Fox and John C. Reilly, the film is described as a cross between “Coming to America” and “Trading Places,” with Cohen playing both a goat herder and a deposed foreign dictator who gets lost in the United States. We’ve already had a few looks at Cohen as the titular ruler but some new set pics have hit the official blog giving us a peek at his other character.
The scene depicts a protest outside the United Nations organized by the “Wadiyan Association of Change” with placards reading “Down With Aladeen!” the leader of the fictional nation. We also get a very brief peek at Kingsley in his role as sidekick to Cohen’s oppressive leader, who apparently doesn’t care much for the protests that are happening. It’s nice to see Cohen transitioning out of the faux-doc style of his past efforts and it seems “The Dictator” won’t be lacking any outrageousness.
Shooting on the film continues in New York City with Larry Charles directing. The film hits theaters on May 11, 2012. More pics below.
