Matt Zoller Seitz Brings Movies About Movies with His Videoblog, Press Play

Matt Zoller Seitz is an amazing writer and critic whose work has been seen in the New York Times and Salon (where’s he’s on staff as a TV critic) among many others; he was a finalist for the Pulitzer prize in criticism around the time we met, at the Dallas Observer. A few years ago he began making video essays about filmmakers like Terrence Malick, Oliver Stone, Kathryn Bigelow, Wes Anderson, Clint Eastwood, Michael Mann for the the Museum of the Moving Image.

Now he’s brought those talents to Indiewire for his brand-new video blog, Press Play. He and his staff will be bringing new video essays each week, along with some text-based pieces. It’s all pretty incredible stuff and I am really proud to have Press Play as part of the Indiewire blog network.

You can find him at http://blogs.indiewire.com/pressplay/.

And here’s his most recent piece, dedicated to “Rocky,” in which the film’s climactic fight takes place July 4, 1976. Happy fourth, y’all.
