Earlier this week we posted an interview with Kenneth Price, director of the long-awaited documentary which spends a year in the life of one of hip hop’s most sought-after producers and now, Duke University professor, 9th Wonder.
The Wonder Year will have its New York premiere next Thursday, July 28th at BAMcinematek in Brooklyn. Screenings at 4:30pm, 6:50pm, and 9:30pm will be followed by Q&As with Price and 9th himself.
9th Wonder will also DJ the afterparty at Southpaw in Brooklyn, where attendees of the screening receive reduced admission.
If you’re not yet familiar with 9th Wonder, you can get a taste of the film in the clip below, in which fellow producer The Alchemist discusses 9th’s music and the kinship among producers.
Aside from a small industry screening held last month, the film has never before screened for a public audience. Price is also still seeking widespread distribution, so for now the July 28th event is the only opportunity for New York audiences to see it in theaters.

For tickets to the afterparty, please visit Southpaw.
