Watch Official Theatrical Trailer For "The Interrupters"

Here’s the official theatrical trailer for a documentary we informed you about back in January called The Interrupters. If you’ll recall, the film premiered at Sundance film festival this year and has been on the festival circuit since then.

Directed by Steve James (Hoop Dreams) and bestselling author Alex Kotlowitz, it was shot over the course of a year and “intimately centers on 3 “Violence Interrupters” who work for an innovative organization, CeaseFire, as they try to protect the youth in their Chicago communities from the violent lives they once lived.”

The film opens July 29 in New York and nationwide in August and September.

This story line could have bastardized some gritty-authorship from the likes of an anthony burgess/richard wright/victor lavelle archtype, perhaps?.

I saw this film at the 2011 Maryland Film Festival. Cobe [Williams.1:04 in the trailer] and producer Alex Kotlowitz were at the screening and did the Q&A afterwards.

While I liked the film, it didn’t affect me the way it affected those critics quoted in the trailer. Mostly because of where I live and where I work. I reviewed the film as well the others I saw and mentioned a lot here on S&A ‘Restless City’ and ‘Viva Riva’ exclusively on the Facebook page for my company at

That trailer ^^^ is very good and EVERY scene above is in the film.
