Alicia Keys, Kenny Leon Talk Broadway Production Of "Stick Fly" + Website Launches + Tix On Sale

George C. Wolfe, Bill T. Jones and Kenny Leon pretty much dominate the current theaterscape it seems, when it comes to black directors attached to Broadway shows. Did I miss anyone else, theater geeks?

Kenny Leon especially is directing 2 Broadway plays that open this fall/winter – Katori Hall’s The Mountaintop, which Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett are starring in, and Lydia R. Diamond’s play Stick Fly, which Alicia Keys is producing along with long-time Tyler Perry producer, Reuben Cannon.

In the video clip below, producer Alicia Keys, playwright Lydia Diamond, and director Kenny Leon discuss the new Stick Fly, which begins its run at Broadway’s Cort Theatre in November (thanks Emmett for the heads-up).

By the way, a website ( has also been launched for the show by the way, so you can keep track of its progress over the next 3 months. No cast has been announced yet, though that should happen any day now; but you can preorder tickets already, which range from $35 for balcony seats to over $200 for premiums.
