Brian White Comedy "Politics of Love" Receives Theatrical Release Date - This Weekend!

Ok, so back in April, we reported that Codeblack Entertainment had acquired domestic distribution rights to Politics of Love, a romantic comedy starring Brian White and Mallika Sherawat as young campaigners in love who happen to be on opposite sides of the 2008 Obama-McCain U.S. presidential race.

At the time, it was reported that the film would be released theatrically in July, with no specific day given; it wasn’t released in July, and then last month, as we noted, the story seemed to have adjusted to include a VOD release for the film in September, but we had no word on whether a theatrical release was still in the works.

Fast-forward to today, and the answer to that riddle has been answered for me. Yes, the film will be released in a limited number of theaters; AND it’s opening THIS weekend! Who knew? Where’s the marketing campaign? I know it’s a small film, but given how much time I spend online on a wide variety of websites, I’m surprised I haven’t seen much of a web-based grassroots push for its release.

But now you know… so, go see it if you’re interested. I couldn’t find any info on what cities it’ll play in (not on the film’s website, nor its Facebook page) so check your local listings.

UPDATE: the team behind the film’s release sent me an email with the following info regarding theaters:

And the current list of cities:

starting this Friday AUG 26th:
Southern California: Laemmle Music Hall (Beverly Hills), Naz 8 (Artesia).
Northern California: Serra Theaters (Milpitas), State Theater (Modesto).
Florida: Britton 8 Movie Theater (Tampa)
Georgia: Navrang Theaters (Atlanta)
Texas: Walnut Theatres (Dallas, Garland)
Arizona: (Tempe Cinemas).
Illinois: Satyam Cinemas (Chicago)
Connecticut: Bloomfield Cinema 8.

The official synopsis reads:

Politics makes strange bedfellows, but never stranger than when a sexy, savvy, African-American conservative Republican reluctantly falls for his Democratic counterpart: a beautiful Indian-American Obama campaign volunteer. Sparks fly, tempers flare, heads turn, and romance blossoms for his mismatched pair of lovers in the frantic and intoxicating days leading up to Election Day. Can the politics of love conquer all?

Loretta Devine and Ruby Dee co-star.

Why is it that almost every article on this site has a doubtful and condescending tone when talking about projects?

And how do you write this stuff without checking your facts?

You should be embarrassed to admit that you spend a lot of time on the internet – supposedly in the Film and Entertainment space and you missed articles floating around as early as 8/2 about this film being released on 8/26.

Codeblack, sounds like this one is more of a Code Red!

Something different in the theaters. Good luck to the filmmakers!

If anyone is in the Greater LA area, it’s playing at Laemmle’s in Beverly Hills and the NAZ 8 in Lakewood….according to Google.
