Viola Davis Put On 25 Pounds For "The Help" And Still Had To Wear Padding... So Did Jill Scott

I had to gain 25 pounds during The Help and then I was padded. I gained weight by eating Mississippi food. They fry the butter before they put it on the bread and then they fry the bread!

Words from Viola Davis on playing a middle-aged maid in the heavily debated upcoming movie The Help. So, wow… she put on 25 pounds, and STILL had to wear body pads on top of that? Just how big did she have to be?

Anyway, as I suggested in a previous post a day or two ago, for her next few roles, let’s hope she’s allowed to actually show off the “rock-hard body she is said to have, from working out 6 days a week with her college-linebacker-turned-actor husband Julius Tennon/.

This reminds me of what Jill Scott had to do in order to play the lead role in The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency; the creators of the show asked her to get larger than she already was. And she already was fairly large at the time anyway. She had to put on another 30lbs for the role on what sounded like a heart-attack inducing diet, and that STILL wasn’t enough; so they added padding to her hips, ass, arms and boobs!

The things one has to do…

Anyway, here’s a clip of Viola Davis on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon earlier this week, as we rarely get to see her… as herself:

She’ll make a perfect action heroine.

Jasmine Fox

Look at her muscle tone on the clip. She’s in good shape now!

Do they not take into consideration the supposed 10+ pounds the camera already adds? Wow. Octavia must be tiny if they made her do all of that. And I’m with JMac; I thought Jilly from Philly was preggers during her performance. Viola is gorgeous. I should go to the gym rite nah, but it’s Saturday and I’m lazy.

What a pleasure to see Viola Davis as herself: beautiful, sexy, funny and smart. More please!

I thought Jill was pregnant when she did that role. They should just forget about putting on weight and wear a fat suit if size is so important.
