Not one to pull his punches, Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier–perhaps in an attempt to deflect the media from reporting on his connection (via Dogville) to Norwegian accused terrorist Anders B. Breivik– is making more waves regarding his next movie, Nymphomaniac, which is looking at an English-language shoot in summer 2012. The film will track a woman’s erotic life from “zero to the age of 50,” producer Peter Aalbæk Jensen tells Screen, during eight chapters of varying graphic explicitness. Von Trier plans to shoot two versions, one hardcore, the other softcore.
Jensen said von Trier “is really keen on doing this thing. I think that this will be a very amusing film also, very erotic but very funny also. I guess we have something which could generate some press attention. How pornographic it will be, that we have to see in terms of what financing dictates.” ThePlaylist has more details on the status of The Five Obstructions remake with Martin Scorsese.
