Here's The Top Grossing Pedro Almodovar Films (In America)

In honor of the release of “The Skin I Live In” Stateside this weekend, indieWIRE is offering up this list of Pedro Almoodvar’s top-grossing films in North America.

Particularly in the last decade or so, Almodovar has proven a reliable box office draw for U.S. distributor Sony Pictures Classics (which has released all of his films since 1999’s “All About My Mother”). Of the top 35 foreign language grossers in North America, Almodovar makes up 4 of them with “Mother,” “Talk To Her,” “Volver” and “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.”

2006’s Penelope Cruz starring “Volver” is his overall top grosser, taking in an impressive $12,899,867. Though perhaps even more impressive is that his 1988 breakthrough “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” is still his fourth highest grosser even without adjusting for inflation. “Women” grossed $7,179,298, which would adjust to $13,781,581 in 2011 dollars. Though “Volver” would still be the top grosser even if adjusted for inflation, as it took in $15,068,219 in 2011 dollars.

Here’s the overall top 10; figures are for North America only and not adjusted for inflation.

1. Volver (2006) – $12,899,867
2. Talk To Her (2002) – $9,285,469
