Paris Announces the Dates For Its First-Ever Film Festival

Under the patronage of the French Minister of Culture, Paris is set to launch the first edition of their film festival next June.

The first Paris Film Festival will run June 6 – 12, 2012. The famed Publicis building located in the Champs Elysées will serve as the festival headquarters.

The event promises to feature 50 films in its inaugural lineup, comprised of 15 French and American films, 15 films submitted for Oscar consideration in the Best Foreign Language Film category and other selections.

In addition, Harvey Weinstein will be honored with a tribute and is slated to participate in a master class during the festival.

umm, also there is the international mobile film making festival ‘Pocket Film Festival’ that has been running for 6 years or so. Can’t just be state sponsored Festivals that count as internationally recognised events can it?


This is not the first international film festival to take place in Paris. A decade ago, there was an international film festival taking place in the same place (Les Champs-Elysees) and called Le Festival de Paris.
