Samuel L. Jackson Is The World's Highest-Grossing Actor At $7.2B, According to Guinness

Here’s some interesting bit of news reported by The Post Chronicle. Samuel L. Jackson holds the Guinness World actor’s highest grossing record, ahead of the likes of Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, 60-year old Jackson has grossed a $7.42 billion during his career, making him the world’s highest grossing actor “full stop, no time-frame included.”

Well, I guess there’s a few actors who can top his number of screen appearances, but it’s still surprising.

Box Office Mojo ( has him listed as making $2,812,941,488 from 54 films…where did the 130 acting credits come from?

Tom Cruise Lifetime Gross Total: $2,871,844,825 from 30 films.

Guinness Book of World Records has got it wrong.

No shock there. He takes every role offered to him. He also told Vivica A. Fox to do the same and she took his advice to heart.

his minor roles in marvel’s films may have something to do with that…lol

Whoa congrats to him!

Gotta check those numbers. Doesn’t make sense. Now, if they say his MOVIES have made that much, I’d believe it, but this has Sam averaging more than $57,000,000 per movie.

I saw an interview with Sam L. years ago when asked about al his credits he said he knows how fickle hollywood is and at any moment he could be out of favor. So he will take nearly any role, no matter how small. He loves what he does and wants to keep working. But because the entertainment business can changein a moment, he feels he cant afford to be so arrogant he can refuse to take any request seriously.

It is not surprising at all considering Jackson used to spout this nonsense all the time back when the Star Wars prequels were rolling out. But everyone knew this result came from him appearing in a dozen movies each year, most of them of so-so quality. In fact I think one reason he wanted to be in the Star Wars prequels was because he knew their worldwide box office would help keep his box office “standing” afloat. But I’m cynical.

The importantb thing to take from this is that in the majority of big box office hits that Jackson has appeared in he has played a supporting character. He’s not necessarily a box office draw, just a household name. And because he mostly plays supporting characters he can appear in a lot more films per year than a true lead star.
