Watch: Attention J.J. Abrams, Adam Scott From 'Parks & Recreation' Has Some Advice For 'Star Trek 2'

If you saw J.J. Abrams‘ franchise reboot “Star Trek” and thought, “Nyota Uhura and Spock? Really?” you’re not alone. On this week’s episode of “Parks and Recreation,” Adam Scott‘s perfectly nerdy and awkward character Ben Wyatt went on a mini-rant about the budding romance and warns Abrams about the Internet fallout that will happen if he follows through with it in “Star Trek 2.” It’s amazing. And Adam Scott knows what he’s talking about. In case you forgot, he earned his Trekker cred as Defiant Helm Crewman in “Star Trek: First Contact.” Watch below (the bit starts at 13:50).

Seriously? Kirk with Uhura? There is no basis for affection there. They would end up tearing each other’s faces off within five minutes. I’m not a huge fan of Spock and Uhura, but I do see a basis for an attraction there. Uhura does not respect Kirk, and Kirk only finds Uhura physically attractive, which doesn’t sound like a stellar basis for a romantic relationship. The writers of the reboot purposefully set up Kirk and Uhura only to subvert it BECAUSE it is the most obvious, fake, typical Hollywood pairing in the film, and would have been incredibly disingenuous had it happened.

…I will now go back to caring about real-life things. Maybe.

Adam Scott is awesome.

Sorry dudes. Starts at 13:50.

Did you seriously just post the entire episode of Parks & Rec? Can you at least tell us where the scene is?

I laughed out loud at these comments. (seriously who the fuck are these people…)

I hope they include Lady Gaga in the sequel as a singer with dark connections to the villains. With her futuristic music and style, she would fit right in.

I’d like to see Kirk, Spock and McCoy go undercover to a techno concert of hers on a distant planet which is raided by many henchmen who have a thunderous phaser fight with them.

• The Orion Syndicate as the villains
• Larger all-star cast as well as many cameos including by William Shatner
• More planets
• Larger space battles with more starships
• Kirk having better fighting skills
• Kirk having several human love interests played by Hollywood’s most beautiful young actresses
• No cut scenes
• The Star Trek theme music from the Insurrection end credits used at the end
