Watch: Promising Trailer for Angelina Jolie's "In the Land of Blood and Honey"

Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut, “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” has been tightly under wraps, evading the festival circuit altogether despite an Oscar-timed theatrical release (December 23). Finally, a trailer for her Bosnia-set love story has surfaced and we’re happy to report it appears to be truly promising.

The film, which she penned and also produced, takes place amidst the mid-’90s Bosnian war, to track the complicated relationship between a Bosnian-Muslim woman and a Serbian rape camp administrator. Local actors Goran Kostic (”Taken”) and Zana Marjanović (”Snow”) play the two lovers.

The trailer hints at a challenging work that doesn’t shy away from the atrocities of war.

Jolie shot her debut in both English and Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian; we wonder, will there be trailers for both?

FilmDistrict opens the film December 23.
