'A Little Closer' and 'The Carrier' Take Top Awards at Lone Star International Film Festival

A Little Closer” won the narrative feature jury prize at the 5th annual Lone Star International Film Festival in Fort Worth, Texas.

Directed by Matthew Petock, “A Little Closer” is a drama set in rural Virginia that follows a single mom and her two sons, all of whom are strange paths as they look for love.  

The documentary feature jury winner was Margaret Betts’ “The Carrier,” the story of an HIV-positive and pregnant Zambian mother trying to protect her baby from being born with HIV/AIDS.

Shorts jury winner was Jordan Baseman’s “Last Walk.”

Special jury mentions went to Simon Arthur’s narrative feature “Silver Tongues” and short film “The Vacuum Kid” by Katherine Mahalic.

The run dates for the LSIFF were November 9-13, 2011.
