Check Out The New Poster For Matthew Cherry’s “The Last Fall”

Check Out The New Poster For Matthew Cherry's "The Last Fall"

Here’s an official teaser poster for Matthew Cherry’s feature film debut, The Last Fall, which, as the image states, stars Lance Gross (featured on the poster) and Nicole Beharie

The full synopsis again reads:

After several years in the playing professional football, Kyle Bishop is released from his fourth team in three years and returns to his home town, broke and at a complete loss about what he will do for a living. After an initially cold reception, Kyle reconnects with Faith Davis, his old high school sweetheart. Ready to leave football far in the past, Kyle gets a job at a local gym and starts planning a new life with Faith and her young son, Von. However, when Kyle unexpectedly gets a lucrative offer from another professional team, and the father of Faith’s son, Rell, tries to win his way back in her life, he is torn about what path to take.

The film was one of 10 titles by black filmmakers (or starring black people) that I’m predicting will make its debut at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Check out the full list of films HERE.

Nice work Matthew. NOTE: A 't' is missing from your name… !

Um… I've actually seen the film and I don't share your opinion, and if you think THIS is half naked you must be prude! And to think I suggested Lance be shirtless in shoulder pads with slacks and dress shoes…

There's a beautiful chemistry between Lance and Nicole I'd like to see on this poster but it's not my film. At the end of the day, Matthew is executing his creative vision which is arguably the only upside to being an independent filmmaker in today's saturated movie market.

everyone i know that has seen the film says it's unbearable to watch and misses the basics of filmmaking….but hopefully half naked photos on Lance will draw a small fan girl audience. Congrats on getting it done, but dont clown tyler perry in ur screening if your product is of less quality.

Now this poster killed it! I've always thought one of the sole purposes behind a poster is or should be to sell the viewer, sell the story, and peak the viewers curiosity and interest level. I believe Mr. Matthew Cherry has done this on several levels. Firsts, although I don't know his target audience, he is telling everyone that this film is not solely a "football" story. Well, it is in a sense, however, the poster suggests it's much more. Also, on the "sell" factor, I believe highlighting 2 popular names was a smart move. Personally, Lance Gross's name does not bring images of great performances (to me) but I can safely assume his name and face will attract many viewers, particularly black viewers. And, the debates will continue on rather or not Nicole Beharie's name is a huge draw, but again, she is hot at the present time. That reminds me, the other night I was watching a film ( "Rain", Faye Dunaway, Giancarlo Esposito, Khandi Alexander of CSI: Miami & "Theme" fame, and a black actress named Brooklynn Sudano). Previews came on first. Zoe Saldana's face appeared in a few–> 2001/Snipes, 2002/Drumline, and 2006/ Premium, which also starred Hill Harper and was directed by none other than S & A's visiting film producer & director Mr. Pete Chatmon. WOW! I've said all of that to suggest one never knows the destiny that lies in front of them or who you might meet along the way. And, it looks like Matthew Cherry, Lance Gross, Nicole Beharie and S & A, are all leading and moving in the right direction.

Much better than the football and tree poster! #ilikeit
