Eddie Murphy No Longer Host of Oscars

With Brett Ratner gone as Oscar producer, his pick as host, his Tower Heist star Eddie Murphy, is also exiting the scene. "I appreciate how Eddie feels about losing his creative partner and we all wish them well," said AMPAS president Tom Sherak as he made the announcement.

Actually, losing Murphy makes it easier for a new Oscar producer–say, Brian Grazer– to take over and start creatively from scratch without suffering the taint of Ratner's comedic direction. A new producer can also choose their own writing team.

Murphy said: "First and foremost I want to say that I completely understand and support each party's decision with regard to a change of producers for this year's Academy Awards ceremony. I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I'm sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job."

I got an even better idea: Dennis Miller should host.

Brian

Chris Tucker should host.

This is very sad. I'm sorry to hear this but as long as he only does movies for adults from now on, it is good enough for me.
It will be interesting to see if they select one or two young rising actors to host again like last time or one or two comedians.
