"Future" and "Women on 6th Floor" Take Turkey's Malatya Fest Nods

Turkey’s Malatya International Film Festival closed out its second annual event Thursday night with Ozcan Alper’s “The Future Lasts Forever” (Gelecek Uzun Surer) taking the events best film prize for its “success to translate the pain of the war and trauma in to the language of cinema.”

Philippe LeGuay’s “The Women on the 6th Floor” (Les Femmes du 6´eme ´etage) took Malatya’s best international feature award.

Best Director: Özcan Alper, “The Future Lasts Forever” (Gelecek Uzun Surer)

Best International Director: Philippe LeGuay “The Women on the 6th Floor” (Les Femmes du 6éme étage)

Best Screenplay: “Sakli Hayatlar – Hidden Lives” by Haluk Ünal

Best International Screenplay:  Carina Catelli with “El Dedo” (The Finger) by Sergio Teubal

Best Short Film: “Ekmek” (Bread) by Ahmet Tas

Best Actress: Salima Hamed with “Unutma Beni Istanbul” (Don’t Forget Istanbul) – A collective work.

Best International Actress: Natalia Verbeke with “The Women on the 6th Floor” (Les Femmes du 6éme étage) by Philippe LeGuay

Best Actor: Volga Sorgu with “Mar” by Caner Erzincan

Best International Actor: Fabian Vena with “El Dedo” (The Finger) by Sergio Teubal

Best music: Mustafa Biber with “The Future Lasts Forever” (Gelecek Uzun Surer) by Özcan Alper
