A new documentary "Greedy Lying Bastards," about the political influence of the Koch Brothers and the environmental devasation of the fossil fuel industy, is aiming for a 2012 launch date in the hopes of raising awareness for the issues during the 2012 election cycle.
According to a news release, the doc explores the reasons behind the world's stalled efforts to tackle climate change despite consensus in the scientific community that it is a reality, and reports Koch Industries and Exxon Oil have each spent nearly $25 million to dispel claims of global warming.
Filmmaker and political activist Craig Rosebraugh said, "One of the most damning erosions of U.S. democracy came at the hands of the Supreme Court in the recent Citizen's United decision. Billionaires like David Koch can now ensure their paid-for politicians like 'brother from another mother' Herman Cain are elected into office."
Speaking further about the film at the climate change website Celsias, Rosebraugh explained, “This film is an investigation into an industry that is simply out of control. The fossil fuel industry has shown that it will stop at nothing to maximize profits for shareholders, whether its cutting corners on safety, employing highly paid lobbyist to impact the political process, giving huge amounts to climate change denialists to ensure that no legislation is passed that would impact the bottom line, or complicity in the murder of individuals who speak up against environmental degradation.”
