Watch: Darren Aronofsky Makes Drugs Look Scary Again With Anti-Meth PSAs

Darren Aronofsky‘s “Requiem For A Dream” is easily one of the most potent chronicles about the downward spiral of addiction, so who better to deliver a PSA about the horrors of meth use?

The director has delivered four pretty damn harrowing spots for The Meth Project Foundation, a group aiming to tackle the growing meth use in the United States. The four ads focus on personal sacrifice and relationships broken by the use of the drug, all going unflinchingly into dark directions. It’s some pretty directly affecting stuff and definitely worth a look, though it may be NSFW depending on how uptight your office is (and if you can’t watch it there, these will hit TV very soon). And in case you were wondering, Matthew Libatique was not behind camera for this, as Darren Lew (“Freakonomics“) took on DoP duties here. Prostitution, violence, suicide…yeah, meth is not a good time. Watch below. [via Vulture]

they also can use Lindsay Lohan's career to illustrate it

Meth does cause voice hearing and when you begin to hear them, it's yours. They will never leave, you have to be strong to get through it… but, maybe it's worth it. Maybe crazy isn't so crazy. It's time to wake up.

Yeah, because 'drugs is bad' is the complete summation of Requiem for a Dream, give me a break.

Glad to see someone of his caliber using their skills to make an impact, but are these just for the internet? I don't see how any network could air the last one, and most likely the first one. The middle two seem safe enough for the air though.

I love booze and weed and I thought Requiem For A Dream was pretty pointless (yeah, drugs is bad, I get it already) but meth really is some terrible shit. Maybe there's some folks out there who can deal with it fine but there's a decent chance it will completely fuck your life to shit. So…you go, Darren Aronofsky.

someone else HAD to have laughed at these.

the BJ spot in particular was hilarious

Pretty good overall. The last one was probably the best. Someone should show these to Walter White.

Can you say 1-note HACK? Because I know I can, and have.

"downward spiral of addition" – so true, math has ruined so many lives…
