Carlton Says That Aunt Viv Was Nuts

Carlton Says That Aunt Viv Was Nuts

So considering that Tambay’s item from a few days ago (HERE) about Janet Hubert having some very not nice things to say about Will Smith from their time working together on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, got a ton of interest and comments from people, it’s time for a sequel. This time it’s up to Alfonso Ribeiro AKA Carlton to tell his side of the story.

And what he said, at a recent appearence at a State University of New York, about Hubert, ain’t pretty. Why can’t we get along folks?

I'm a big fan of S&A, but this Ribiero video was first posted on video in January 2009. This could be interpreted as a cheap attempt at pageviews.

Will bad mouthed her in the press first as a preemptive strike.
During the highly publicized fallout in 1993, Smith blasted Hubert for her attitude.

"I can say straight up that Janet Hubert wanted the show to be 'The Aunt Viv of Bel Air Show' because I know SHE IS GOING to dog me in the press," he told an Atlanta radio station. "She has basically gone from a quarter of a million dollars a year to nothing. She's mad now but she's been mad all along. She said once, I've been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.' No matter what, to her I'm just the AntiChrist."

I'm not picking sides, but don't act like Hubert is a saint either. She was the one who didn't take notice that the Fresh Prince was Will Smith's show, hence the title.

This is just sad. Why would this grown ass man with a daughter go to a college, (Lord knows how many colleges) to say this? WTF? What a dillhole. I mean how insecure does he have to demonstrate himself to be? He's got lots of money and is already Supreme Holder of Will Smith's nutsack so what is he getting out of it? And what he says after someone says "you mean the dark-skinned one?" – made me want to go back to Africa for reals. I really do hope that Janet Hubert gets some closure and peace and some movie/theater roles and book sales. She also has a children's book, too, so the lady has been up to something. Much healing needed all around. I do feel the light skinned/dark skinned issue is there as well. Her feelings about it, theirs, the worlds. It permeates this whole thing. I mean someone even asked was it the dark skinned one? Just like that?! It's just sad and should hit close to home for all of us light, dark, whatever. You got lots of love and support around you, Janet.

Janet Hubert talking about her book, from 2009, and how this video inspired her to write it…

Look JH, they SUCK, but don't make them continue to make you look bad. You still have supporters, a great many supporters! Please let this stop here and now for your own good. I still want to see more out of you, but if you're writing tell-all books and still appearing bitter, even if it is warranted, people will only look at what YOU are doing and YOUR behavior and use it to support your detractors. :(

Also, again, one must note that similar discord was reported on another "Will Smith set" for the show "All of Us" (see Elise Neal experience – contract problems "led" to her departure) for which Ribeiro oftentimes directed. I'm just saying there seem to be a "mean boy" culture from these guys that provides poor modeling for those who work for and with them.

Almost forgot:
I dunno if it was in this or another vid (cant bother clicking play) but he sneers to emphasise *The dark one*

Doesn't he know he's talking to a room full of white people? this is not some yo momma battle in the ghetto. lol @ the dark one. emphasis on 'dark'. For shame! Carlton sweetie-pie! I mean.. Alfonso!

SERGIO startin' trouble just when things were slowin' down. His side of the story? This video was posted January 27, 2009 and the video's poster stated that the event occurred the night before at SUNY Oneonta so we can assume that this video was taken January 26, 2009. In his "talk", Alphonso Ribeiro gives no specific details regarding how things went down with Hubert. He simply states she was "nuts", "cuckoo" and "the [b!tch] was crazy"… When prompted by female audience members for more information, he gives them nothing, he does, though at times, fall into a skit from "Sh!t Black Girls Say" when interpreting their questions. The one argument he makes is that she, basically, wasn't family. The set was a big family… no specifics. No first signs of trouble, no she was "crazy" from the first day we met her, no she could not get along with James, no she couldn't get along with the girls, no specifics. When Google searching SUNY Oneonta and Alphonso Ribeiro, one can note that his statements definitely received similar coverage to what Hubert received with her most recent statements re: Will Smith and his being an a$$hole/egomaniac. I could not imagine her not having watched this video before she taped "Life After" and came out with her most recent statements, not that she was not making them before. Apparently after she was let go, Smith went on a FP promotional tour in 1993 (possibly not alone) and basically made fun of Hubert on the radio stating that she went make "250,000 to nothin'! " … Look we have heresay on both sides. I'm not understanding taking Ribeiro's word over Hubert's simply because people think they know him, simply because he's a guy, simply because he makes you laugh, I mean the list goes on… My thing is that they are ALL RIGHT re: what went down on the set. That Ribeiro, Smith, Medina (who IS NOT a good person) did not get along with HUBERT which in turn made them all act like A$$ES. We can take sides, but we don't know what really went down…all I know is that Hubert seems defensive while Ribeiro appears arrogant and offensive which is unnecessary given how things went down with her contract. IT WAS THIS VIDEO, that INSPIRED HUBERT TO WRITE HER TELL-ALL BOOK "PERFECTION IS NOT A SITCOM MOM" (2009). Hubert states, "Of backstabbing co-star Alfonso Ribeiro (whom Hubert clearly wishes had actually died in a breakdancing accident, as the urban legend once held), Hubert writes: Alfonso was a large part of my decision to publish this book. That’s because he has made it his business to continue kissing Smith’s butt by slandering me, sometimes at universities that my son may possibly attend in the near future. " – Avclub May 19, 2011 Hubert needs to understand that Ribeiro is not going to change and though this is understandably hurtful, she has to move on with the support of those who respect her and her work.

I already saw this speech.

He came across as quite aggressive to get rid of his 'nerdy carlton stereotype', but leave alone that comment. That was just immaturity, which we all possess at one point.
Now get this- he said something about beating up a guy over *can't remember*. OMG how cool! >_>

This is a far cry from the days of The Carlton Dance. Him and Ms. Hubert can be nuts together :D
