"Kinyarwanda" Opens In Theaters Across The USA Today - Reviews, Screening Cities/Theaters + Watch A New Clip

Well… it's here! D-day has arrived, after months of prep by the AFFRM team. This is where/when YOU come in, so don't disappoint me! If I say please will that help? Although don't expect me to beg like Keith Sweat :)

The reviews are in – from Roger Ebert (HERE) to the LA Times (HERE), NY Times (HERE), Philadelphia Inquirer (HERE), Village Voice (HERE) and several others – and they are strong.

There's definitely a general anticipation and excitement for the film, and what its success could mean for not just black cinema, but cinema in general, as AFFRM gets back into the ring a second time, after making its initial definitive statement earlier this year with Ava DuVernay's I Will Follow; and we've certainly been there along the way.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that this Sunday, the 4th, I'll be *presenting* the 11:05am screening of the film; so if you're up for an early jaunt to the movies that morning, come on out and see me! I'll have my Sunday clothes on too :)

And if you missed my conversation with director Alrick Brown, and star Cassandra Freeman earlier this week, click HERE to listen to it.

AFFRM's second release (Kinywarwanda), will make its theatrical debut today on 9 screens in 7 cities. Opening weekend release cities and links to theaters at the bottom of this post.

But first, a brand new clip from the film – titled The Wife, The Husband and The Mistress – follows immediately below:

Thank you Ava!

Caught the first screening at 42nd St. This is a beautiful movie.

I am very happy to see AFFRM doing this again. I went out for I Will Follow. I'm going to keep supporting their movies. I'm in Birmingham but I'm going to ATL on Saturday. I think this is important and I hope this does good.

So proud of this movement. They are really doing something. I will be at there at the DC/Virginia.

Thanks again for the heads up.
