Oscar Talk: Impact of New York Critics, National Board of Review, Indie Spirits, We Bought a Zoo Review

In this week's Oscar Talk podcast, Kris Tapley and I survey the field AFTER this week's awards voting from the New York Film Critics Circle, National Board of Review, Gothams and the Indie Spirit nominations. We wonder, is Meryl Streep ahead of Viola Davis? Is Glenn Close still in contention for "Albert Nobbs"? Is Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" in trouble? Can "Ides of March" make a comeback? Is Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" heading for Top Five status? Or  is "The Help"?

We review Cameron Crowe's hip but accessible "We Bought a Zoo." We are both seeing "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" Friday morning, so stay tuned.

Anne, Paul Haggis' CRASH got 76% rating on RT, so you still have a movie that is considered "certified fresh" and majority of the critics liked. it's kind of like The Blind Side which also got a similar rating. And even the Reader got 60+% rating, and yet it got their actors the win. but 40% is a different story, therefore Leo will again NOT WIN this year.

Marsha Mason

Not sure who picks the songs, but my favorite Dylan song. Let's have more.
