Queen Latifah Sells Female-Lead Police Procedural Series To CBS

Dana Queen LatifahOwens, via her Flavor Untt Entertainment production company has sold a female-lead police procedural pilot to CBS, which will center on “a street savvy Philadelphia woman who realizes her calling as a homicide detective after a defining moment.

Charles Murray (V, Castle, Criminal Minds) will pen and executive produce the drama, with Latifah executive producing.

No word on who they’re eyeing to star in this, and whether she’ll even be black. Really, how often do we see primetime network shows with black women (or men) as the central characters, with the series built around them, let alone police procedurals?

Of course, nothing’s a done deal; this is TV; it may never see the light of day.

But the Queen certainly has been busy expanding her TV empire. From VH1’s Single Ladies, to a daytime talk show with Sony Pictures Television she’s currently prepping.

I'm so glad that Queen Latifah is making her way through the success actually breaking through all what has brought her the success. And now another project and a talk show. She is making all the right moves in this business. And it's just good hear about the projects that she's working on. Good for her and much more success for Queen Latifah.

Queen you are such an amazing women, I expected nothing less..if you are looking for a fresh face for this show, please contact me!

Well I guess it would make too much sense to expect a black female lead. CBS doesn't have many black people on their network at all.

I think Holly Robinson Peete and Taraji P. Henson are the only black women in primetime on CBS and both have limited roles.

Bodes VERY well that Charles worked on CRIMINAL MINDS. CBS is like ABC, they reward their people-they keep them in house & working, from Creators on down to makeup people. If it's any good, this thing could go-I mean look at dry ass cheese like UNFORGETTABLE & P.O.I. (of which I was a fan at first but then was deflated). I'm rootin' for it!
