Whedon co-wrote the film with “Cloverfield” writer Drew Goddard, who directs. The picture, originally scheduled for early 2010 release, had been in MGM limbo since it was shot back in 2009. The restructured company is taking it out to theaters next April via Lionsgate.
The trailer looks like vintage Whedon: mysterious government men in suits speak cryptic lines like, “The lambs have passed through the gate. They have come to the killing floor.” The horror flick looks both scary and self-referentially ironic.
