According to the Hollywood Reporter, Melissa Rosenberg, the writer of all five Twilight movies has now surpassed Linda Woolverton as the top grossing female screenwriter with her films grossing a total of $2.56 billion worldwide.  Woolverton total take is $2.39 billion.  She mostly known for writing successful animated films (The Lion King) and is also the writer of the Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

But their total doesn’t even come close to the male leader Steve Kloves at $6.8 billion whose scripts include the Harry Potter series.  He will add to his tally this year as he is a credited co-writer of the Spiderman reboot.

Here are the two women’s films: (data from Hollywood Reporter)

Interesting question, what does the twilight movie say?
It said heterosexuality is dangerous for women. Loving somebody means to give up your life. That love hurts either way all the time.
But what it gives to young women is an illusion that somebody even if its a vampire, will love her in a fated intense way.
Not pro feminist? Try not pro happiness. Misery sells too.
But its work for women. We should be able to create crap as well as the men.

Rosenberg ruined Twilight.

What's really sad is that the Twilight series was very status quo. I know that the writer and director tried hard to make it less male chauvinistic than the book, but still, the result was never pro-feminist.

So what does that say to women? Maintain the male-dominated status quo and you'll make more money?
