Watch: Bryan Singer Plants Some Beans, Grows Trailer For 'Jack The Giant Killer'

Well, you can’t say that Bryan Singer‘s “Jack the Giant Killer” isn’t delivering what the title implies. Yes, it’s a movie based on the classic fairy tale, for better or worse, and this first trailer promises a movie somewhere between the ridiculounsness of “Mirror Mirror” and the awesomeness of “Snow White and the Huntsmen.”

The first half of the spot is easily the worst and immediately put us on guard. All the preamble to Jack (played by Nicholas Hoult) getting the beans and growing them plays like a movie for eight-year-old kids, but after that? Well, that kingdom in the sky is actually pretty impressive, with the size and scope that actually is a lot more than what we envisioned, and with a genuine sense of danger. Once Jack gets to the top to find and rescue Isabella (Eleanor Tomlinson), shit gets very real. Beasts and yes, giants abound but the some of the big surprises are kept hidden for now, particularly that of the two-headed king of giants played by Bill Nighy and John Kassar. And oh yeah, Ewan McGregor is in this too but it seems his role is minimal (or again, still waiting for more to be unveiled). And yes folks, that does seem to be a wink to the water in the glass/jeep scene in “Jurassic Park.”

So, cautious optimism here. “Jack the Giant Killer” will stomp into theaters in 3D on June 15, 2012. Watch below. [Apple]

THE HONEY SWAN

"Cautious optimism here." When this site uses that phrase it is forever synonymous with "emasculated pessimism here." Say you what you mean. It looks like shit and not one f**k is given about it by anyone. I cannot believe this movie exists. It is part of an exceedingly strange trend in Hollywood of perverting innocent, bedtime fairy tales with action movie flash and for who? An audience of closet football-loving pedos? Does Singer make movies only to gaze into the eyes of a pasty-faced model cast in the lead? Go make high concept porno then. Oh wait!

That hornsound sells it to me, I love it. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon of hate just yet..

I found the trailer very childish.

Well, I'm just a geek who's a sucker for these kinds of things, but I thought it looked pretty good. Worth watching, certainly.

Umm……..

This is evidentaly not a remake of the original cheesey movie, just a hijacking of the title. How disappointing. I suppose "Killier" is sexier than "Beanstalk", but still, where are the hot Witches?

OHHHHHHH Jack the killer of GIANTs. Not Jack, the guy who does giant amounts of killing…I thought this was going to be waaaay darker for a second there…

I am confused about the time period this is set in. Everyone but the main character looks to be in period clothes, but the MC is wearing a hoodie and a leather coat. What? Is he just waaaaay to hip to be in period clothes?

Hollywood isn't even trying anymore. It's all about tentpoles that suck, but hey you might make that first weekend money, that's all that counts.

CHASE

WOW. I smell a pile of CRAP.

The live Rifftrax of the original was the funniest thing I've ever seen.
