2012 Golden Globe Award Predictions

2012 Golden Globe Award Predictions

The iron lady is a disgrace, history rewritten, she's a total bitch in real life……….lol

JSR

Meryl Streep is the best actress she must win the golden globe her performance on ¨The Iron Lady¨ is just amazing. She is predicted to win this year and she won the golden globe on 2009 or 2010. (sorry i saw a comment that says that she havent wi since 1982) ist true i think she won it by ¨its complicated¨ or ¨julie and julia¨. Both great movies.

i think that sepration get the best foreign language movie award..
few hours ago this movie got the critic's awards …
its a storng drama movie i believe if this movie took a part in best picture or other parts , certainly had something to say

MATT11

Am i the only one thinks Charlize Theron gives the best and most impressive performance of the year? She deserves much more Williams, Streep or Davis. Young Adult is so underrated.

Nosh

When it comes to 'Best Actress: Drama,' Viola Davis is a far more safe-bet than Meryl Streep.

Streep's tightly-stiched performance is getting critical acclaim, but sadly, the movie itself is crap. Davis's performance was heart-wrenching and real, and I think that is going to win the voters over.

Sorry Meryl, but this just isn't your year.

mike to

if Jessica Lange doesnt win the award for best supporting actress in a TV drama, I WILL freak out! she was the real reason why I tuned in to watch American Horror Story every week! she was absolutly fantastic in that show!!! She deserves it for sure!

GOOB

I can't believe that they think In the Land of Blood and Honey will win foreign. No one even likes it, it's hardly a foreign movie, and it shouldn't even be nominated. This means more people will vote for that over A Separation and the others. Thats not right.

A.SH

Did you ever watch "A Seperation"????!!!

lucy

Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer , the skin I live in ,hugo and rango are the best choice .

joe

Michael Fassbender, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer , the skin I live in and rango are winner.

Dominique

these predictions suck.. Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer has to WIN.. Mediocre predictions.

Boo

Seems pretty good, but why In The Land of Blood and Honey? That is the least likely by far. How come they think Brad Pitt will win this when they put him as 3rd most likely for the oscar?

Miley.H

In the land of blood and honey????????ohhhhhhhh god!
Did you really watch this movie????IT'S CRAP!!
I'm sure they have nominated this movie just because of Jolie.
I hope "A Separation" win.this movie is brilliant.just watch it.

My Opinion:
Best Picture: Drama – Hugo
Best Picture: Comedy – 50/50 (I have not seen "The Artist" yet)
Best Director – Martin Scorcese (Hugo)
Best Actor: Drama – Brad Pitt (Moneyball)
Best Actress: Drama – Rooney Mara (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo)
Best Actor: Comedy or Musical – Joseph Gordon Levitt (50/50)
Best Actress: Comedy or Musical – Michelle Williams (My Week With Marilyn)
Best Supporting Actor – Viggo Mortensen (A Dangerous Method)
Best Supporting Actress – Octavia Spencer (The Help)
Best Screenplay – The Ides Of March
Best Original Score – Howard Shore (Hugo)
Best Animated Feature Film – Rango (or The Adventures Of Tintin; both are great)
Best Original Song – Masterpiece by Madonna (W.E.)

JH

No nominations for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy or Warrior? That's just not right…

JH

seriously… best actress goes to The Help? I think Dragon Tattoo deserves it…

DMH

I don't get why The Ides of March is getting so much attention, I didn't think it was so great and neither was Ryan Gosling's performance in it. I'm very happy with all of the predicted wins, especially Viola Davis and Brad Pitt! Those amazing actors have been robbed of Oscars and they need to get them this year.

nm

Madonna's song Masterpiece is just absolutely brilliant & should definetly win the Golden Globe for best song. All the other songs nominated are just hideous.

dustcauldro16

True as a huge POTTERHEAD am deeply hoping to see the last movie at least once in this list for the very last time. But as a movie fan, I think the Golden Globe got it at the very least 70% right on the spot. To my disappointment, Alan Rickman didn't made it to the Best Supporting Actor list… He was soooo friggin' awesome at the last movie they could change the title to "Severus Snape and the Battle at Hogwarts."… I could give you one scene, just one scene that i think should earn him a nomination at the very list. "Snape's and McGonagall's duel at the Great Hall." Heck that scene lasted a minute or less, but it's more intense than any of the scene from the movie. It's so friggin' awesome I can't stop crying…

Ann

What a surprise that Harry Potter is not mentioned once in this list. What a surprise that they nominated the usual actors again, that only drama movies and actors have a chance AGAIN.
I cant take the Golden Globes serious anymore. They even nominated Miley Cryus once, so what should I think…

andrea

Michael Fassbender or Ryan Gosling should win for best actor, not only because they really stood out this year, but because I'm so tired of George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

JT

Can someone please explain Jonah Hill (whom I've loved in all his comedies) receiving a nomination over Nick Nolte from Warrior? Looking back at both movies, pretty much any decent actor could have managed Hill's part in Moneyball, but Nolte really lived his Warrior part and I could imagine no one else defining this character as well as he.

Liz

I hope Flowers of War wins best Foreign Film; i'm a bit tired of the Jolie love from the Golden Globes. Still laughable that they nominated The Tourist last year and this year they must include her again. I know they want ratings, but come on.

It's a real shame that they didnt nominate Beginners; such a beautiful film! But at least Plummer got a nomination.

Sky

Johnny Depp!!

jingmei

The Tourist is not that bad as a matter of fact. Besides some crap nonsense comments based upon the last Golden Globes event, and an almost full list of the this year's cool films, basically this post talked nothing.

Lola

Being a big Ryan Gosling fan, I was happy to see you thought his acting abilities in "Drive", "Crazy, Stupid,Love" and "Ides of March" were GG worthy. He is such a finely tuned actor. I can't wait to see him in more films in 2012. I hope he wins a Globe award too. He's great in everything he's in.

Lily

Actually, should that read, always a bride never a BRIDESMAID??

Lily

With Harry Potter summarily dismissed as it has been this year, should anyone really care? I used to love award season and pretty much trusted the right people/movies to get nominated. Oh, what a lesson I learned this year. Alan Rickman… AWESOME. Alexandre Desplat – PHENOMINAL. Stuart Craig – BRILLIANT Poor Harry Potter, always a BRIDESMAID, never a bride…

R

W.E is much better than most of the films to be suggested winners here.
People just cant handle the fact Madonna made a good film, and unfortunately she will be unfairly snubbed.
Ridiculous.

Matilda

Tilda!

Andrea

Very great year of cinema this!!! My favourite films are The Artist, W.E., Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close, The Skin I Live, Hugo, Albert Nobbs, The Iron Lady, Midnight In Paris, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Beginners, Drive, Shame, Carnage, Melancholia, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, My Week With Marylin. a fantastic 2011 of movies!!!!
My specialist support goes to Andrea Riseborough with her wonderful portrait of Wallis Simpson in W.E., and in the same film (with too many critics prejudices) the fantastic score by Abel Korzeniowski, and the song "Masterpiece" a really pop masterpiece by Madonna, Julie Frost and Jimmy Harry.

chstar13

Ryan Gosling should most definitely win for Drive….he knocked it out of the park!!! One of the best movies I've seen in a while; it was beautifully directed and acted.

greek1981

of course , once more not even 1 nomination for Harry Potter .
You should be ashamed…
People loved the last one , critics loved it , good perfomances , emotional scenes, complexed plot, fast pace (except perhaps the epilogue) and general it was a really GOOD movie.Thats enough for a few nominations

alley

Where is Harry Potter on your lists?? It was a fantastic film and easily the best score too. For you to snub it completely AZ not even in the running for one single nomination is crazy. I think you are severely under-estimating its chances here. I hope you are wrong on all counts!! Harry Potter was easily one of the best films of the year hands down.

Derp, Beginners is likely being submitted as a Comedy/Musical, which would explain the inclusion in that section.

MY WEEK WITH MARILYN is being submitted as a musical or comedy, despite many people agreeing with you, Nicki.

Nicki

I don't think My Week With Marilyn is supposed to be a musical or comedy.

1. The Tourist was far from a commercial disaster. It made near $300m box office.
2. If Jolie gets nominated for "Blood and Honey" it will be because she deserved it. It premiered this week and the leaked reactions, despite an embargo still, have been outstanding.

Blake

Patton Oswalt as a possibility for Supporting Actor over former Oscar winners Kevin Spacey and Jeremy Irons for Margin Call? Are you guys nuts?

Melvin

Ryan Gosling shouldn't win an award for Best Actor for Drive.

Monica

Bridesmaids? nooooooooooo

David

It's Flowers of War and not War of Flowers.

Derp

Beginners was NOT a comedy. Did anybody at indieWIRE check their facts before making this list? Awful.

gerard kennelly

peter mullan deserves
a best actor nomination
for his work in Tyrannosaur

I just don't understand all the hoopla over The Descendants. I though it was irritating and blah especially Clooney who always plays Clooney.

J Hughey

I still don't see how The Help is going to get any big Oscar nominations at the expense of excluding Hugo or Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. One of the only things The Help has going for it is the cast, especially Davis and Spencer. It has very little critic buzz, especially when overshadowed by movies like Hugo and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

Hugo is being raved by the critics and audiences as being perhaps Scorsese's best picture of the last decade, beating out The Departed, Gangs of New York, and The Aviator, all of which were nominated for Best Picture and then some. It currently has a 97% on rottentomatoes with an average score of 8.4. That's not something you see every day, and I doubt it will be ignored by awards voters.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is a bit of a wildcard, but I still don't see it being knocked out of the big awards by The Help. It also has a high rating on rottentomatoes, and it's the kind of intelligent fare the voters like.

Movies with average ratings of 75% rarely get nominated for big awards at the expense of higher rated fare, especially when there's a lot of critic buzz surrounding that fare. The Help just doesn't have enough steam to go that extra mile, whereas Hugo and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy have steam to spare.
