Adepero Oduye, Paula Patton and six other Hollywood starlets grace this month's issue of Vanity Fair. Also on the cover, Oscar-nominated Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara, Jennifer Lawrence, Mia Wasikowska, The Help's Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Olsen, Shailene Woodley, Felicity Jones, Lily Collins and Brit Marling.
The Vanity Fair article called the actresses "up-and-coming"; although, Paula Patton seems to have already made somewhat of an impression in Hollywood, especially after her turn in Precious back in 2009. I guess the hype of Mission Impossible IV's success prompted her inclusion this month. She's also 35; alas, I'm happy for her and the very deserving Adepero Oduye.
I still think they should've thrown Nicole Beharie in there.
Anyways, I'll reserve any commentary on the relevance of these yearly Vanity Fair cover issues and their efforts to become more diverse. I'm sure you remember the controversy two years ago, when the issue featured all Caucasian actresses.
