Early Details On That Next Tyler Perry "Madea" Movie You Asked For...

Recall my November post highlighting the 4 Tyler Perry movies that are scheduled to be released in 2012, wondering whether he should be concerned about overexposure?

1 he’s directing (The Marriage Counselor), and 3 he stars in (Good Deeds, I, Alex Cross, and even though it hasn’t been formally announced yet, he mentioned, in an interview that took place during the latter half of 2011, that he plans to release a new Madea film in 2012 as well).

He never gave any details as to what exactly this new Madea movie would be; but we now have some idea. Although, really, if you’ve seen one Madea movie, you’ve seen them all.

According to a casting notice for extras (courtesy of both the Atlanta Fox affiliate and The Atlanta Journal Constitution website), Tyler Perry Studios is seeking extras for a project titled, Madea’s Witness Protection.

Yes, it looks like the as-of-yet titled 2012 Madea film has a title… Madea’s Witness Protection. I can only imagine what that old hefty broad will be up to this time around.

Filming will reportedly occur in ATL beginning this month, continuing through March. Extras of all skin colors, genders and sizes are needed – although you have to be 18 or older, have a professional wardrobe and be available for 12 to 14 hour days.

No exact shoot dates are given (it just says January through March) by either Fox nor AJC, but both say to go to and click on the “How to Become an Extra” link for more details, where you’ll find info on pay and application procedures.

No synopsis yet either; it’s not even listed on his IMDB page.

So there ya have it folks… remember it… Madea’s Witness Protection… coming in 2012; likely during the latter half of the year.

Excited? :-)

I would love to star in a film by Tyler Perry. It would be exciting and would change my regular life :)

I've watched most of Tyler Perry's movies. Actually, I believe I watched all of them and viewed a couple of stage plays and actually attended a stage play. The quality of writing goes up and down from movie to movie and sometimes scene to scene. Sometimes the direction does too. Overall, I decided that comedy's a good antidote for a tough economy. Sometimes, it's just good to have a laugh. I also focus on the fact that like Berry Gordy, Spike Lee, and John H. Johnson, Tyler Perry provides a valuable training ground (and jobs) for writers, crew, and actors shut out of/bypassed by/overlooked by mainstream productions. It's a tough game to play, but Perry's made it clear that he is, indeed a player. I hope Tyler Perry soon ventures beyond directing or producing family drama/romantic comedy into historical biopics, action/suspense, or young adult fantasy. I think he could do it if he chose to.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any "jesus take the wheel!" comments yet. It's like this dude's sole mandate is to set us back as a people. As D'Angelo would say in The Wire: "believe…"

Quality, cut-n-paste, and assembly-line mentality aside, I'm inspired by Tyler's perseverance and discipline.

Hate him or love him. The man is working!

Tambay is a HATER. The only movie he loves is Pariah. Tyler is making that money.

He stays on his grind.
