Here’s the first official trailer for the T.D. Jakes-produced thriller Woman Thou Art Loosed On The Seventh Day, which Codeblack Entertainment will release on April 13th via its new AMC Independent agreement, after the film premieres at the Pan African Film Festival next month as its closing night film.

Here’s the full synopsis:

Kari (played by Sharon Leal) and David Ames (played by Blair Underwood) have seemingly built the perfect life until Kari’s dark past is unveiled following the kidnapping of their 6-year old daughter. The production is far from cheesy. We did our best with what we had and u think we did pretty good! When someone looses their child, it is dramatic but there are also many funny moments cause that's how life is right? We need to support good black independent cinema and not judge it before you see it cause we have enough judging done from Thr white system, like I said give us a chance at least. Words are power and the more bad things we write about each other before we see for ourselves, the less power we have!

Neema

Please give the movie a chance. It's a black production and we tried to make a film that will touch you. We get so little opportunity to make movies, can we at least wait until it comes out before we judge it? We are trying to give you a quLity film this time even though it was low budget, too black pros worked hard on this film to make all our people feel proud, so please give us a shot!
Thanks

Neema

This movie is a grown up movie! It's different and deals with issues and social problems besides having a thriller aspect. Give it a shot and check it out when its released and let me know what you think!
Film should be a mirror reflection of society…thought provoking!

I can't wait for this movie to come out! Be careful when putting down a man of God. Touch not mine annointed and do (speak against) by prophet no harm. If you don't have anything good to say then be quiet. Didn't your mama teach you that?

Donella

I like the cast and I like thrillers so, I'm going to give this a try. Wonder if Blair Underwood has been typecast as the psychopath again? Why is always the go-to guy for those roles? LOL

FilmGuy

I wish T.D. Jakes would sit his hog-head down. Stick to the preachin' mayne. Stay in yo' lane. This movie ish, that ain't your flavor. Ok, end ghetto-slanged rant. God bless

Ray

Why is the video private though?

"Woman Thou Art Loosed On the 7th Day." My God. My biggest issue with movies like this (coming from T.D. Jakes) is they're made as a commentary on ALL Black women. Why can't it be the story of this INDIVIDUAL Black family or Black woman? And it would have been cool to see a drama or thriller with a Black child kidnapped, kind of like that Mel Gibson movie RANSOM, or Michael Douglas movie DON'T SAY A WORD.

goddamn black people – is this really what we need? this religion bullshit is gonna keep us deaf dumb and blind.

Corny.

I don't think it looks bad, dramatic yes. I wish these trailers skipped the narration…like, "David and Cary had the perfect life.." Nobody has the perfect life; let the images speak for itself. I'm intrigued to see it though, especially because of the actors.

Sonny

Looks ok, kind of cheesy but I'll give it a chance.

J

The trailer is horrible!

kyn

Love the actors, but something about the production makes this look cheesy.
